Alright, Storiesonline is now at home on it’s new server farm.
The whole move between stopping the site on the old servers, backing up the files, dumping the database, uploading the files to the new farm, build the database, create the content index, Changing DNS entries and seeing hits come to the new servers, took roughly an hour and a half. More than 45 minutes were simply spent waiting for DNS change to propagate.
Let me know of any issues with the new site, especially performance.
Time to go to bed for me. It’s been a long day.

Hi Lazeez,
I’m happy the move went ok.
I’m having problems accessing the RSS feeds though.
I’m getting “The requested URL /rss/mylib.php was not found on this server.” for example.
Regards
Darrien
Thank you very much for all your hard work. It is really appreciated. This is by far the best site for reading for me. I have read more and better stories here than I have in published fiction. And, I am as old as dirt.
I hope this will be the last of your major problems for the near future.
Thank you again,
Thanks for your dedication Lazeez. Have a good night sleep
Looks like things are finally back up to par as everything is working that I checked. Very nice to have the slow and flaky service fixed finally
Thanks for all your effort.
Much faster!!!! This site is like it used to be. It all snappy and brisk.
It’s 8:37pm EST, and for the last 20 min or so, I have had 3 database error pages. If I wait 1-2 min the page loads fine. I have also had 2-3 pages that take a few extra seconds to load.
Thanks for a really great site.
Pat
The site was under extreme load, more than anything we’ve seen before. We’re still tuning the new setup. It’ll be better next time 🙂
Have not been able t log-in as due to security certificate problems on your end. I assume that this has t due with your move, one of the issues is location does not match.
This one has been fixed as of Saturday morning.
Since the move I have not been able to log on to the site. Is anyone else experiencing the same or is this coincidence?
For some reason I cannot get to the logon page it give me a The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings
The rest of the site loads just fine
Is it still happening?
When I first load your home page, the ‘Another Story’ button under the “Suggested Reading’ heading does not show up until after I have refreshed the page.
It’s working for me. *shrug*
