Hi,

Firefox has still the problem even with your tips for the configuration. So I used OperaTor instead of Firefox with Tor. But now I get a invalid comment from Opera too. Something like not not evering validate, but the second run now works again.

@ MoJonnyMo

Check Firefox's security settings especially in the advanced pane.

Under 'Encryption' the 'Use SSL 3.0' box should be checked as well as the TLS 1.0.

Then click 'Validation':

The 'Use the Online Certificate...' box should be checked and the 'When an OCSP server connection fails, treat the certificate as invalid' box should be unchecked.

Also, make sure that your system clock is accurate. If your system date is before November 11th 2009 (or after 2013), then firefox will report an invalid security certificate.

If after that, you still get an invalid security certificate error, I can only suggest that you use a different browser. Only a very small number of firefox installations are reporting this error still and we have no clue why really.

Firefox 3.5 still giving an error message, saying the certificate is not issued by a verifiable issuing authority. Anyone else dealing with this?

Perhaps you could give some thought to publishing general advice as to how to get a status report when the site is down or, as in this case, when one can't get in.

thanks for the information and the update

forgive the technically challenged guy I am but despite the new certificate, I still have the "certificate issue" with my browser :(

is it due to my bookmark of the log-in page still asking for the "old" certificate ? (if yes I guess I just have to accept definitively the new one to solve the issue)

or is it due to something else?

CaptNemo, it's sorted now so I cant repeat it, but the wording was something 'allow an exception' you then got a warning along the lines of 'are you sure' click OK and you were in.

Big guy on a bike - what mouse clicks for Firefox 3.5? All I get is the warning box when I try to log in and the only place to click is the "ok" button which takes me out of the log in. I can log in fine with I.E. but really hate using it.

Keep in mind that a certain domain registrar that sponsers crazy ads and sponsers a race car driver will sell you a certificate for $30.00 per year, and there are ways to get discounts on top of that. The certs are the same no matter who issues them. Although the sellers of the $300 cert would like you to think you are getting a lot more, you are not.

GoDaddy.com: Standard Cert for around $50USD per year and set up in minutes. There's really no difference in the encryption levels, only in the perceived value.

Firefox 3.5 requires a couple of mouse clicks.

This has to be the right approach, to warn you. You can then accept or not the expired certicicate.

Personally I would rather have this warning, if it keeps me safe when browsing the web.

Anyway I can understand your reluctance to pay $1000 for something you can buy for almost a third of that

Trust is a wonderful thing, Lazeez and I trust you and SOL implicitly. However, I've never trusted banks or any other financial institutions as far as I could throw their fancy corporate arses and recent World events have certainly proved me right in my assumptions. You've got my support in refusing to be ripped off and I've happily just renewed. Don't let the bastards get away with anything.
